In 1968, Ms. J. K. Shishkin was assigned by Mr. Carlos Nagel, the director of the Museum of New Mexico, to write a history of the Palace of the Governors. In 1972, Ms. Shishkin submitted this manuscript consisting of 405 typewritten pages and 28 handwritten pages of footnotes. Carl E.
