Abstract The collection documents the formation and functions of the civic, non-partisan Albuquerque Citizens Committee from 1952-1970. Their platform focused on “concern for the quality of urban living," including the environment, human life, economic opportunity/anti-poverty, and high standards of competence in government.

Scope and Content This is a collection of materials pertaining to the national and local "neighborhood movement" during the 1970s and 1980s. The materials were collected by Raymond E. (Tim) Butler. Butler was an active member of Albuquerque's Spruce Park Neighborhood Association, the Sycamore Park Neighborhood Association (which included members of the Spruce Park and Silver Hill Neighborhood Associations), and the Sycamore Citizens Redevelopment Task Force (a committee appointed by the City Council in 1981 to...
