Extent
1 book (Canvas bound book measuring 30 in x 18 ½ in. 110 numbered blueprint pages, with 5 additional loose unnumbered pages in the back. Pg. 84 has come loose from the binding and is located at the end of the book with the unnumbered loose pages. Pages 97-110 are made of brown paper with the plats taped on. The plats on these pages are a combination of blueprints, carbons, traces and print versions. There is no page 106. Page 111 is not numbered. Pages A-E are loose and located following page 111. The title page of the book states the following: “THE PLATS OF SUBDIVISIONS AND ADDITIONS TO THE CITY OF ALBUQUERQUE AND BERNALILLO COUNTY, CONTAINED IN THIS VOLUME, HAVE BEEN COMPILED FROM OFFICIAL DATA, AND ARE TRUE AND CORRECT COPIES OF THE ORIGINAL PLATS, FILED IN THE OFFICE OF THE COUNTY CLERK AND RECORDER OF BERNALILLO COUNTY, TO THE BEST OF OUR KNOWLEDGE AND BELIEF. L.W. CANTELOU AND CO.” Following title page, there are two pages indexing Name and Filing Date of each plat in alphabetical order. The file dates range from 1887-1948. The last 13 pages plus some of the loose pages are plats surveyed by Ross Engineering Co. (alternatively called Ross-Beyer Engineering Co.) It is thought this book is a collection of plats copied and added to by a Surveyor or a Surveying Company. Though the plat book originated with Mr. Cantelou, it is hard to know the entire history of the book or how it ended up in the possession of Mr. Smith. The book was compiled and/or completed before the 1952 Street Rename Project. )
