Abstract
Collection holds legal documents for the foundation and ownership of the Buena Vista Heights (BVH) Addition to the City of Albuquerque. Contains correspondence and receipts relating to BVH Addition dating from 1922 to 1930. Additional material relating to Paul William’s New Mexico homestead also included.

Biographical / Historical
Paul William Williams was born on 18 November 1888 in Keokuk, Iowa, to Louis and Lucy Williams. He had a sister Eva, born 1883, and a brother Ralph, born 1891. In the early 1910s, the Williams siblings all filed homestead claims in New Mexico. Starting approximately 1913, Paul began working for Salt’s Textile Manufacturing Company at their mill in Lyon, France. Paul would travel to New Mexico from France will some regularity, but eventually started his own business in France. He purchased the property that would become Buena Vista Heights Addition in 1920. He left the management of the Addition first to Harrold B. Sellers, then Harrold’s father D. K. B. Sellers. Paul returned to New Mexico to live in 1935. He returned with a wife named Jeanne Georgette Mathilde Noizet. Jeanne and Paul had one daughter, Estelle, but the couple divorced by 1945. Paul was listed as the president of Buena Vista Heights Improvement Company for many years. By 1949, his occupation was listed as “real estate”. Paul later married a woman named Dorothy. Paul had two other children named Dolly and James, but it is unclear which wife was their mother. Dorothy filed for divorce in 1958. After 1956, Paul’s occupation is listed as “rancher”, and after 1960 he is no longer listed as living in Albuquerque. Paul died on 22 May 1978, and is buried at Sunset Memorial Park.
