Citizen’s Record: Albuquerque Water Resources Management Strategy (AWRMS)
San Juan-Chama Project: Customers Advisory Committee
(Boxes 1,2 and 3)
Description: The collection holds a citizen’s record of the Albuquerque Water Resources Management Strategy – San Juan-Chama Project. The first box holds a collection of the Customers Advisory Committee meetings and correspondences, ranging from 1998 – 2004. The second box in the collection holds a continued collection of committee meetings as well as water resources publications and news articles relating to the San Juan-Chama project. The third and final box is comprised of the resources and references that the Albuquerque Water Resources Management Strategy – San Juan-Chama Project utilized to outline their scope of work and discuss during their committee meetings.
Citizen’s Record: Beverage Container Deposit Legislation (The “Bottle Bill”) (Boxes 4 and 5) Description: This citizen’s record holds a collection of documents and correspondences relating to an effort to pass a beverage container deposit legislation bill in the 1980s. The first box contains resources and efforts to build support for the legislation as well as correspondences with activists and legislators. The first box contains a majority of materials that focus on local support and early activism in support of the legislation. The second box of the collection holds publications on legislative efforts throughout the United States and Canada, as well as government and university studies on container deposit legislation.
Citizen’s Record: Petroglyph National Monument (Boxes 6 and 7) Description: The collection holds a citizen’s record of planning documents, city council and committee meetings, bond issues, periodicals, management plans, neighborhood and transportation agreements, and publication and promotional materials relating to the planning and creation of Petroglyph National Monument in Bernalillo County, New Mexico. The collection holds two boxes of documents which span from 1980-2004.
Citizen’s Record: Open Space Bosque Trails Recycling (Box 8) Description: The collection outlines the citizen support for recreational open spaces within Albuquerque, NM. The collection begins with recycling action plans and proposals to raise taxes in order to gather funds for “Open Space” recreational areas. The collection primary holds materials on the Elena Gallegos Open Space as well as the Bosque Open Space along the Rio Grande, including: purchase agreements, tax proposals, news articles, recreation maps, neighborhood information, and Open Space Advisory Board reports.
Citizen’s Record: Middle Rio Grande Council of Governments: Urban Transportation Planning and Policy Board; Middle Rio Grande Water Assembly (Box 9) Description: Collection focuses on the Middle Rio Grande Council of Governments’ (MRGCOG) documents that include Annual Reports, Newsletters, and subdivision groups within the MRGCOG. Collection also holds resources as well as a variety of maps of counties, the state, and traffic flows.
Citizen’s Record: Water Conservation and Planning (Box 10) Description: This collection holds regional and New Mexico-specific resources on drought, water conservation, and collective action. The collection also holds draft and published reports and ordinances from the City of Albuquerque, US Geological Survey, and the Southwest Valley Management and Funding Options Evaluation. The collection ends with Packets and Proceedings from the 28th, 29th, 31st and 39th Annual New Mexico Water Conferences, as well as hand-written notes and various documents and promotional materials that were likely distributed at the conferences.
Community Planning Commission/Bernalillo County Planning Commission Notebook – 1985 | Compliance Advisory (Air Quality) 1995 | Air Quality Assistance 1997 | Miscellaneous (Box 11) Description: Collection has three folders which hold miscellaneous land use and planning documents, a Joint County and City Charter Study Committee report from 1973, and a Bernalillo County Subdivision Ordinance report from 1974. The collection also holds three binders. The main binder holds a “Community Planning Commission/Bernalillo County Planning Commission Notebook” which was published on August 22, 1985 by the City of Albuquerque’s Municipal Development Department. The Notebook was created as a source to “locate information you may need to make decision on County matters.”
City and County – Area Plans (Box 12) Description: This collection holds area planning documents from City and County planning departments, and research reports completed by government and non-governmental organizations. Research Studies and Management plans are published from early 1980s to 1991.
City Plans – Comprehensive Plan and Revisions (Box 13) Description: This collection holds planning and meeting documentation from the late 1970s-early 2000s which outline the City of Albuquerque/Bernalillo County Comprehensive plan published in 1988, as well as feasibility studies, community and city meeting notes, and promotional and publications relating to the growth and development of Albuquerque and Bernalillo County.
Westside Strategic Plan- Northwest Mesa Escarpment Plan (Box 14) Description: This collection holds documentation on the strategic plan for Albuquerque’s Westside. The collection highlights the planning and revisions of the Strategic Plan – published in April, 1997 – and news articles, community meeting notes, and neighborhood planning documents.
Solar Energy Research (Box 15) Description: This collection holds materials from a series of conferences and workshops on Solar Energy and Solar Technology, primarily from mid-1970s to mid-1980s.
