Bob Lewis is mentioned in Dobie's book, helped Adams try to find them earlier- Bryan got to know Lewis, but Lewis took a while to open up about the Lost Adams Diggings. Lewis says that Adams hasn't told the whole story- Adams stole the gold and was on the run when attacked by Native Americans. Rather than saying I hid the gold, he has to say he lost it.
