Biographical / Historical
Biographical/Historical:
Since 1970, the preservation work at the park has been done largely by park staff. The documentation of work done by park staff, first and second generation Navajo masonry workers, is primarily visual. Stabilization reports continued to be produced by binding before and after photos and treatment forms together. The last bound report was in 1986. The complete set of Stabilization Reports (1933-1986) have been cataloged individually, and form two series in two collections: Coll 0021/001: RSU reports from 1933-1969; Coll 0022/001: Stabilization reports from 1970-2010. Image metadata is being entered into a preservation database maintained by the University of Virginia and made available online through the Chaco Research Archive (Chacoarchive.org). Extra prints are maintained on photo cards and filed by site, room, then year for field reference by the park during annual work by the park preservation crew.
