Scope and Content

From the Sub-Series: The heading “Chaco Area” refers to the region of the United States containing resources related to the prehistoric Chacoan culture. This area includes Chaco Culture National Historical Park—which encompasses Chaco Canyon and three outlying sites—and the San Juan Basin, a large geologic formation in the four-corners area of Arizona, Utah, Colorado, and New Mexico which contains additional Chacoan outlying sites. This subseries consists of project material on archeological studies, aerial mapping projects, and other remote sensing activities conducted in the park and the surrounding basin region.

Photogrammetric map of Kin Bineola map from aerial photography dating 4/7/72 and 4/22/77 which shows features and vertical and horizontal control point locations; photointerpretive map of Kin Bineola marked as Figure 4 (report title unknown); composite map covering the area, R.8W. to R.13W. and T.13N. to T.32N. which is centered on Aztec in the north, Chaco Canyon in the middle, and San Mateo in the south, and shows segments of the Great North Road, the Northwest Road and the roads to Pueblo Pintado, Kin Klizhin, and Kin Ya'a; composite map consisting of the Milk Lake and La Vida Mission USGS 7.5' quadrangles and showing flight lines at Kin Bineola; and composite map consisting of the Kin Klizhin Ruins, Pueblo Bonito, and Sargent Ranch USGS 7.5' quadrangles and showing 1:6000 color IR flight lines (3, 4, 4A, 5, 5A, and 6) at Chaco Canyon.
