Volume 5. Photostat copy of excerpt from Lieutenant James Simpson's account of an 1849 U.S. military expedition against the Navajo and their route through Chaco Canyon. Excerpt includes Simpson's descriptions of major Chaco ruins, including Chetro Ketl.[CR] Also includes 3 oversize photostat copies of maps (2 of one map, one of a second map) by James Simpson and Edward Kern showing the US Troops route through new Mexico and Chaco Canyon. Includes note by Paul Reiter stating that material was copied January 12, 1932. Probably used as research for Reiter's 1933 MA thesis.
