Scope and Contents

__The series documents pre-coloumbian landscape projects using non-invasive archeology, and studies of architecture and the cultural landscape. These projects were undertaken by the Navajo Nation Chaco Protection Sites Program staff and numerous colleaugues. The projects pertain to Chaco Canyon and Greater Chaco, Aztec Ruins NHP, Manuelito Canyon, various soil, corn, wood, ceramics, and lithics anaylses, the Chacoan road and alignments, and Navajo ethnography. The materials consist of correspondence, proposals, studies, papers, research materials, reports, analyses, geodimeteric data, outlines, notes, mapping, 3D modeling, aerial photography, images, photos, and maps.

Biographical / Historical

This series contains material on the NNCPSP's committment to non-invasive strategies of collecting information about CPSP sites and their interconnectedness. Research emphasis was on geophysical study, mapping utilizing technologies in remote sensing, GPS, and GIS sourcing by means of strontium isotopes and trace elements ( in soil, timber, lithics, ceramics, and corn studies), Navajo oral history, traditional narrative, and astronomy. Additionally, it documents stabilization of structures, precoloumbian architecture and great houses, roads, alignments, and rock art. These projects were conducted in Chaco Canyon, Manuelito Canyon, Aztec Ruins, as well as at Newcomb, Skunk Springs, Raton Well, and Crumbled House CPSP sites.
