The Navajo Nation's participation in the Chaco Protection Sites Program was primarily the implementation of the Joint Mangement Plan for designated sites located on Navajo Nation lands, including sites eligible for inclusion. These sites were to be protected, preserved, and interpretated through various projects with perspectives of field archeology and traditional culture in mind. The work would entail pre-stabilization documentation and contracting, limited excavation and artifact collecting, analysis, report preparation, fabric documentation and photography, mapping, and site management plans.
