This interview with Dr. Hilton W. Gillett (1903-1992) summarizes his over forty years of family practice in Lovington, New Mexico. Arriving in the state in 1934, Dr. Gillett served a large, rural practice spanning most of Lea County. Among the subjects discussed in this interview are Dr. Gillett's personal and professional backgrounds; the "old-time" physicians of Lea County, as he knew them; hospitals in Lea County; continuing education; rural medicine in southeastern New Mexico; and other topics.

Biographical / Historical
Dr. Hilton W. Gillett (1903-1992) was a family practice physician in Lovington, New Mexico. Born in New York, Gillett graduated from Albany Medical College in 1930 and interned at Jersey City Medical Center. He practiced in New York from 1931-1934 and from 1934-1975 in Lovington, New Mexico. Dr. Gillett retired in 1975.
