Scope and Contents

This interview with Dr. Albert W. Egenhofer (1910-1991) of Santa Fe, New Mexico surveys Dr. Egenhofer's 33 years' practice in Santa Fe. There is particular emphasis on the early years in New Mexico and on the nature of his practice. Among the subjects discussed are the work of the Proctor Eye Clinic in Santa Fe and Taos; hospital facilities and services at St. Vincent's Hospital; Bruns General Hospital in Santa Fe; the New Mexico Ophthalmological Society; and others.

Biographical / Historical

Dr. Albert W. Egenhofer (1910-1991) was an opthamologist in Santa Fe, New Mexico. He practiced for 33 years in Santa Fe. Born in Syracuse, NY, Dr. Egenhofer graduated from Syracuse University in 1930 and from the Syracuse University College of Medicine in 1934. He had a temporary practice at Proctor Eye Clinic before opening his own practice in 1939. Egenhofer became board-certified in opthamology in 1940. He was married to Ruth Keil Egenhofer (1908-2001).
