Scope and Contents
The Pediatric History Project collection, HHC 339, dates 1966-1991, bulk 1989-1991. The collection consists of New Mexico Pediatric Society newsletters, correspondence, history committee materials, and research files about New Mexico pediatricians. The collection is organized into two series: Pediatric History and Provider Research Files. Original order and folder titles were retained.

Biographical / Historical
These materials were collected by Dr. Robert Henry Tully (1916-2004). Dr. Tully was a pediatrician and professor of pediatrics at UNM's School of Medicine. He graduated with his MD in 1948 from the University of Rochester. In 1957, Dr. Tully moved to Albuquerque and joined the Lovelace Clinic (1957-1959). He established his own pediatric practice in 1959 and stayed in practice until 1981. Dr. Tully served twice as chief of pediatrics at the Bernalillo County Indian Hospital and was deeply involved with pediatric education at UNM's School of Medicine. From 1967-1978 he was a Clinical Associate in Pediatrics, from 1979-1983 a Clinical Professor of Pediatrics, and from 1983 until his retirement in 1993, a Professor of Pediatrics. In 1995, Dr. Tully was the first recipient of the Recognition Award of the New Mexico Pediatric Society.
In addition to his medical career, Dr. Tully was very interested in the history of pediatrics in New Mexico and conducted oral histories and collected materials to help document it.
