Scope and Contents Lists names, products and cash exchange, mill operations and sheep ranching. During this period, Huning Mercantile records record only token activity and the ranching operations were the major focus of attention. Mercantile accounts appear to have been maintained primarily to purchase chuck for the family and ranches at wholesale prices.

Scope and Contents Entries appear to represent money owed by and paid to ranch employees, e.g., two entries for Francisco Duran on Oct. 10, 1903 record an entry to the Cienega account, and two additional entries in which Duran receives additional credit by work of 7 months & 16 days @ $16.00 per month totaling $135.60, an additional entry for the same day credits an additional $6.45 by work cooking, shearing & lambing plus an additional $2.00 allowance for Rawhide" for an aggregate of $144.05.
