Bow and Arrow Dance Songs - These are historic Pueblo songs, performed each year in February. The dancers are imitating the twin war gods of long ago, who danced to prepare for a battle, a raid or hunting. They asked the spirits to make them brave and courageous., ca.1970-1975

Scope and Content From the Collection: The recordings in this collection were performed at Jemez Pueblo by the Turquoise Moiety, to which Paul Tosa belongs. Paul Tosa is singing. Tosa provided the background notes for the songs, which feature the traditional singing and drumming of the Jemez Buffalo, Deer, Corn, Bow and Arrow and Harvest dances.
