Corn Dance - Vocal by Jemez Pueblo singer, Jerry Fragua, uncle to Paul Tosa (grandfather’s brother). These dances are performed in the early spring time, in April or May, prior to planting. They are prayers to the spirit for a good farming season., ca. 1970-1975

Scope and Content From the Collection: The recordings in this collection were performed at Jemez Pueblo by the Turquoise Moiety, to which Paul Tosa belongs. Paul Tosa is singing. Tosa provided the background notes for the songs, which feature the traditional singing and drumming of the Jemez Buffalo, Deer, Corn, Bow and Arrow and Harvest dances.
