Scope and Contents BOOK ONE, Monique's life, and her death in 1942. Jmonique.16p. 24 short chapters and Epilogue of 48 pages. Rewrite from April 25 to May 3, 2016. Some edits, but not many. Again, I keep rehashing same stuff, adding, subracting, shifting a little material, spinning my wheels, going nowhere. Can't seem to get untracked. Feels embarrassing. Still mostly present tense. Hand paginated on bottom of each page. 325 pages.

Scope and Contents BOOK ONE again, labelled Jmonique.16q-b. 211 chapters prior to short epilogue. Many corrections from May 11 to May 25, 2016. I noted on cover of ms. box: "This will become the 'final' draft of BOOK ONE." Wishful thinking! I finally changed this draft from present tense to past tense! 344 pages.

Huge problem, obviously, is my ability to make minor corrections, type them into the computer, then get a clean printed draft! I can't read and correct easily on computer, so I always print out clean drafts to read, then correct on hard copy. BOOK ONE here is pages 1-239. BOOK TWO is pages 240-398. Corrections made between May 30 and June 10, 2016. 398 pages.

Scope and Contents BOOK TWO, clean draft, labelled Jmonique.17d. Clean as a whistle. Pages are numbered 302-445 (Aftermath [of Monique's death]); 446-461 (Epilogue); and 462-477 (Acknowlegements). I think this draft is powerful and moving, but in the end I never used it. Total of 175 pages.

Scope and Contents BOOK ONE, clean draft, labelled Jmonique.17d. Pop and Monique attempt to integrate their past lives with present courtship. This draft is close to the "finished draft" in 2018, but omits their sexual problems. 301 pages.

Scope and Contents BOOK ONE and BOOK TWO labelled Jmonique.17e. Includes Dad's fight with Mamita for custody of me, and her long, sad, final letter when he gave me to Aunt Mollie. There's also his flight to Cayenne, Guiana, just before leaving Miami. Pretty clean, with some Post-Its and edits. BOOK ONE has 279 pages. BOOK TWO has 146 pages. Total of 426 pages.
