Many edits, inserts, hand-corrections, additions done mostly in January 2016. Book covers my life and Pop's life from around 1969 until his death. Complex portraits of my life, work, relationships, same deal with Dad, his private journals, anguish, move to Smithville, TX, my visits to him while he's dying. Pages 351-763. Total of 412 pages.

First 100 pages are Monique's childhood, teen years, life at Peacock Point, trips out west to Santa Fe, Arizona, L.A. Work at anthropology lab in Santa Fe. In 1937 Dad and Monique meet, their courtship follows, married life in Berkeley, ends with Monique's death in Florida, August 4, 1942. 499 pages.

Scope and Contents BOOK ONE (Monique and David). Jmonique.14t. Has a 4-page intro based on Monique foto--"Reder-Mor." Clean, original draft, with no chapters, and mostly in the present tense. I thought that might bring it "more alive." Wrong! Includes Monique's 1931-33 trips to America, Peacock Point, Santa Fe, courtship and marriage to Pop, and ends with her death in 1942, and Dad's struggle with Mamita for custody of me. 315 pages.

Over and over, with this book, I kept rewriting, rearranging, re-nitpicking the same effing material. Endless repetition. I couldn't find the tone. Couldn't decide what to leave in, what to take out.
