ROBERT REDFORD WITH TANIA, HOLLY, VERONICA, JULY 1980

Scope and Contents When Redford came to my Taos house in July 1980 to talk about Milagro, at the end or our discussions the girls were desperate to have their picture taken with him. He was a good sport. He said, "I knew I couldn't get out of here without my picture being taken." The full color photo has Holly Bachman, Tania Nichols, Veronica Baca, and Redford. (From original slides in my transparencies archives, in Slide Box 16, sleeve 8.)

I drove down there with Sylvia, a really fun trip. My speech was, "Out of the Melting Pot, and Into the Fire Next Time," about racism in America.

Scope and Contents 35 B&W self-portraits of JTN for Nirvana Blues on a contact sheet. And the negative strips for these photos. Three prints of proposed pictures, including one of a photo used on the jacket. I kept my mouth shut because I was missing my front teeth! My upper jaw was infected so I couldn't wear my bridge. Also includes some passport images I had made from these prints.

Scope and Contents This folder contains 1 B&W contact sheet of 20 author photos I took of my friend, Doug Terry, for his novel, The Last Texas Hero, published by Doubleday in 1982. A good novel. I probably took these pictures of Doug in Taos in 1981. Folder includes my B&W negatives of the shoot. Also one tattered color photo of Doug and his wife Nancy's wedding in Arroyo Seco, I forget what year.

Scope and Contents Another of my favortie all-time pictures. Taken of me by my buddy, Mike Kimmel, on the Little Rio Grande in Taos, I think around 1982. Of maybe the tiniest trout I ever caught. And one of the happiest smiles ever caught on film. 2 color photos and 2 color negatives. 1 of the color negatives is of Mike yowling on the Little Rio Grande. Portrait of me was used on the cover of Dancing on the Stones.

Scope and Contents Bernard Plossu was French photographer who lived in Taos for a while. Folder includes 3 B&W contact sheets of Bernard's photos of me in my son Luke's pigeon coop in Taos, 1982. Also of me wrestling with Luke. And 2 shots of me with my daughter Tania. Folder also has 1 print Bernard sent me years later, of me releasing a pigeon in the coop that day. Photos were taken for the publication ARTlines, which I guess ran an interview with me by Thom Collins, June 1982.

Scope and Contents Folder includes 1 large color photo of Costa-Gavras at Hemsley-Palace Hotel window in New York with many rose float bowls that always came on our trays with room service; 1 large B&W photo of cast and crew of Missing taken in Mexico; 23 color photos of roses in float bowls on Helmsley Palace window sill; 26 photos of Costa at window with float bowls and of us dining together with room service in hotel room (packet includes color negatives); and 2 color negatives of JTN and Costa à table.

Scope and Contents Nice photos. Color. One in front of my Taos portal, 1985. One out on the western mesa smelling some flowers. Mel Howard was a good friend, actor (Hester Street), teacher, film director, AD. We worked on movies (never made) together. He was also good pals with my other Hollywood buddy, Leo Garen. Mel died of a liver transplant for hepatitis. Leo comitted suicide at age 71 in Cartagena, Columbia.

Scope and Contents 7 B&W contact sheet photos of moving sheep trailer to my land in Carson. Juanita gave me trailer for my birthday. Bill Renison and Mary Alice Renison helped to move it. I sold the land in 2001. And gave the sheep trailer to Jerry Boxberger who lived up the road in Carson. Folder includes negatives of these pictures which could actually be developed as viable photographs.
