PORTRAIT OF AMERICA, WAYNE EWING, APRIL 9, 1984

 Item — Box: 180, DVD: 1
Scope and Contents I think it was Turner Broadcasting that did a bunch of these "Portrait" films on various states in America. This one, about New Mexico, was produced and filmed by my friend, Wayne Ewing, a documentary filmmaker. It is narrated by Hal Holbrooke. There is a section on Taos in which I am interviewed, my friend Andrés Martínez is interviewed, and a local dairy farmer, Bob Gomez, is interviewed. It's fun to see Andrés on tape. My interview begins the Taos section. Lots of political stuff. I taped...

"ILLUSTRATED DAILY" WITH HAL RHODES, OCT. 7 AND 8, 1985

 Item — Box: 180, DVD: 2
Scope and Contents This tape done by KNME has parts I and II of my interview with Hal Rhodes at my Upper Ranchitos house in Taos. Focusing on "On The Mesa," a book not yet published. Fun interview despite all my inaccuracies. Many shots by Karl Kernberger, I believe, or maybe Michael Kamins (check the credits), of me on the mesa and at a stock pond. My new wife, Juanita, is in the film, and at some point I play "Before the Next Teardrop Falls" for her on the guitar. It was "our song." You can probably get a...

 Item — Box: 180, DVD: 3
Scope and Contents This long interview by Hal Rhodes of KNME with Margaret Randall relates to her struggle to regain U.S. citizenship when the INS was trying to deport her from the U.S. Produced by Karl Kernberger. I thought I was interviewed here on her behalf, but just ran through the tape and don't see that interview here. But this is a great discussion between Hal Rhodes and Margaret. If you don't have this video in her archives, you should make a copy for those archives. Margaret still lives in Albuquerque,...

Scope and Contents This KNME report was produced by Karl Kernberger. There was talk that year of reconsidering building the Chiflo Dam on the Río Grande River up around Sheep Crossing in the Wild Rivers section of Taos County. Many people, pro and con, politicos and environmentalists, and local residents of Cerro and Questa and Taos, are interviewed about their thoughts and positions. I get interviewed a bit throughout. This is a pretty decent tape.

THE SKY'S THE LIMIT, KNME DOCUMENTARY, MAY 1991

 Item — Box: 180, DVD: 7
Scope and Contents This is a film done for KNME's Colores program. About a half hour long. Produced, directed, filmed, edited by my friend, Michael Kamins, a producer at KNME. It's based upon my environmental photo-essay book, The Sky's the Limit, published by W.W. Norton in 1990. Not to be egomaniacal, but I love this wonderful film, it's very funny, also poignant.  Item — Box: 180, DVD: 8
Scope and Contents This tape includes two interviews on KNME that I did with Roger Morris at my house in Taos. Shows me chopping wood, I have a huge woodpile. One of interviews is done outside at the woodpile. Discussion is about, mostly, the 1992 election between George H.W. Bush and Bill Clinton. I babble about no difference between Republicans and Democrats, we really don't have a 2-party system, and so forth, yada yada. It's a decent dialogue. Fairly respectable copy of tape.

 Item — Box: 180, DVD: 10
Scope and Contents This is a really. Long. Boring tape. Dunno who made it. There is a long talk by the technothriller writer, Stephen Koontz. Long talks by other people. Blah blah blah blah. There's a panel where I actually say something. I think if you keep going on the tape that eventually you'll come to me giving a talk as a "Tribute to Frank Waters." But I don't have the time or energy right now to keep searching for it. Good luck!
