Scope and Contents (This story was published in The Southwest Review, Vol. 32, No. 3, Summer 1947, with the title "Twelve Hundred Pesos", an alteration made by Mr. Willard Hougland, editor of that number. He changed, also, the name of the central character from "D'Arcy" to "Johnson" but otherwise made but few alterations of the version in "Copy 1", which was the one submitted to him.)
