Scope and Contents
Early 1980's Karl Schwerin had a Fullbright grant to visit archives in France to study the publications of Alcide d'Orbigny. Collection contains research on the travels and publications of Alcide d'Orbigny. In the 1830s d'Orbigny traveled widely throughout southern South America. Upon his return he published seven volumes detailing his itinerary and his findings in natural history (Voyage dans l'Amerique meridional. 7 vols. Paris: 1835-1847)
Collection also contains seven art plates from d'Origny publication and a portrait plate of d'Orbigny and also contain xerox copies of French archive documents.
