Scope and Contents

The collection consists of academic and professional papers of historian Rosalind Z. Rock. The collection includes research notes; translations and transcriptions of Spanish Colonial documents; a copy of Dr. Rock’s dissertation, Dying Quijote: Nemesio Salcedo and the last years of Spain in the Internal Provinces (1981); an unpublished manuscript for a book affiliated with the National Park Service; and other materials. The collection is currently unprocessed; please consult with CSWR reference staff with any questions and for access.

Biographical / Historical

An alumna of the University of New Mexico, Rosalind Z. Rock also earned her Master’s and Doctorate degrees from UNM. Dr. Rock researched in archives in Mexico, Spain and the United States and published a number of studies on women in the Spanish Borderlands. She worked with the Spanish Colonial Research Center at the University of New Mexico and for the National Park Service, including as Park Historian for the San Antonio Missions National Historical Park. Rosalind Rock died in 2008 in San Antonio, Texas.
