Scope and Contents

The collection included two woodcuts. The first print features nine ink colors, and is signed and dated (J.Miguel 2001) with the title "A Feira Nordestina" printed as part of the black wood block. The second print is black and white, and is signed and dated "J.Miguel-2005" with the title "Os Diabos" printed as part of the wood block.

Biography

J. Miguel (or Jose Miguel da Silva) is a Brazilian printmaker, active in Bezerros, Pernambuco. He is the adoped son of famed cordel printmaker Jose Francisco Borges, from whom he learned the craft of making woodcuts, or xilogravuras.
