Scope and Contents
The Nicolaas Moolenijzer Papers span the years 1882-1992 with the bulk of the collection falling in the 1960-1980 time period. The papaers are a collection of research by Moolenijzer on various aspects of sports and physical education globally, with a specific emphasis on the Austrian School of 'Natural' Gymnastics developed by Dr. Margarete Streicher in Vienna during the interwar period. Biographical / Historical
Nicolaas Moolenijzer was a Physical Education professor at the University of New Mexico. He was originally from Amsterdam, Netherlands. He was born on February 14th, 1922, and died on January 15, 1992 in New Mexico.
Dr. Margarete Streicher was a developer of modern natural gymnastics in Vienna, Austria. She was born in Graz, Austria on April 9, 1891 and died in Vienna, Austria on February 1, 1985.
