Biographical / Historical

Daniel Davis is a composer of contemporary music based in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Davis grew up in Wenatchee, Washington, being introduced to music through studies of the violin and the voice. Davis attended the University of Washington, obtaining a Master of Music. On completion of his studies, Daniel moved to Albuquerque, pursuing a career in free-lance composition. Throughout his career, Davis has produced numerous works, both for the concert stage and for works of theater, dance, and video. While Davis' music often uses an approachable style influenced heavily by traditional sacred music, his ouevre covers a wide array of genres, from sacred to neo-romantic to avant-garde. Davis has taught at the university level for many years, both at the University of New Mexico and the Central New Mexico Community College. In addition to courses such as Music Appreciation, Davis has often directed university choruses for both institutions. At the time of this collection's creation, Davis is still actively composing and teaching in the Albuquerque area.
