Scope and Content

The Katie Reymond Papers consist of four ledger books, a few letters, and Katie Reymond's will. The ledger books record the Reymond's transactions and investments between 1911 and 1939. One letter, written by Reymond to the Dona Ana County Commissioner's Office requests a reduction in business taxes.

Biography/History

Katie Reymond was a Swiss immigrant to New Mexico and wife of businessman, Numa Reymond. They arrived in New Mexico in the 1850s, at which time Numa Reymond established a stage coach line in New Mexico and Colorado. He was also a mercantilist in Paraje, N.M. They moved to Las Cruces, N.M. in 1882 where they purchased an estate and their business interests continued.
