Historical Information
The United States Army maintained two large German POW camps in New Mexico - in Roswell and in Lordsburg. The Roswell camp which was opened in November 1942, was a distribution camp for POW workers as far north as Santa Fe. The Roswell camp administered up to ca. 4500 German POWs.
