Historical Information

The “convencionistas” (conventionists) are a political and military group formed after the Mexican Revolution that supported Francisco Villa and Emiliano Zapata, and that was in opposition to the constitutionalists led by Venustiano Carranza. The two groups split during the Convention of Aguascalientes and fought against each other due to their political stances regarding land distribution and the role of the federal government.
