Biographical Note
Dr. Lawrence H. Wilkinson was born in Katy, Texas, in 1916 and earned his MD at Baylor University College of Medicine in Dallas, Texas in 1942. He served on the Board of Regents of UNM from 1959-1971. Dr. Wilkinson played a large role in the development of UNM’s Medical School and was also an innovator in the field of bariatric surgery. He passed away suddenly at his home on August 6, 1992.
