Historical Note

The One-on-One Program was an outreach and retention tool created by the University of New Mexico (UNM). It began in 1988 to address UNM’s 12% freshman attrition rate. The program matched volunteers with freshmen to mentor them through college life. Due to budget cuts the program ended in 1996.
