Scope and Content Note

The Albuquerque Booksellers Coalition records include student and community generated meeting minutes, agendas, flyers, announcements and clippings. These folders were originally a binder that had been organized by the group. The folder arrangement reflects the original binder order. This box contains three collections from the 1990s: The Mural Coalition, UNMA 021; the Campus Community Coalition, UNMA 022; and, the Albuquerque Booksellers Coalition, UNMA 023.

Historical Note

The Albuquerque Booksellers Coalition included 11 local independent bookstores who were opposed to the $4.9 million, 50,000 square foot proposed UNM bookstore due to the economic impact on small, locally owned bookstores. The Albuquerque Booksellers Coalition worked with the Campus Community Coalition to oppose the building of the proposed University of New Mexico bookstore.

Abstract

The Albuquerque Booksellers Coalition worked with the UNM Campus Community Coalition to oppose the building of the proposed University of New Mexico bookstore on Central Avenue. This collection includes student and community generated meeting agendas, minutes, flyers, announcements and clippings.
