Scope and Content Note
The collection consists of two series: the UNM Historic Furnishings and Decorative Arts digital photograph files and the Public Art Inventory digital photograph files. The inventory of the UNM Historic Furnishings and Decorative Arts is comprised of historic furniture, light fixtures, and wrought iron fittings located at UNM Tier 1 buildings on the Albuquerque campus. Tier 1 buildings on the UNM-Albuquerque campus include Scholes Hall, Anthropology Building, Alumni Chapel, Zimmerman Library, Carlisle Gym, Northrop Hall, Hodgin Hall, Sara Raynolds Hall, Art Annex, Mesa Vista Hall, Travelstead Hall, University House, Economics Building, Hokona Hall, Naval ROTC Building, Jonson Gallery, and the Estufa. The UNM Public Art Inventory consists of work of arts also located in UNM Tier 1 buildings. The inventories were authorized by the UNM Board of Regents and are managed by the UNM Historic Preservation Committee.

Historical Note
The UNM Regents' Historic Preservation Committee advises the President regarding historic resources and assists University departments in the preservation and protection of these resources. Departments and/or units shall consult with the Historic Preservation Committee on matters regarding the University’s historic resources. The committee is also responsible for identifying and inventorying the University’s historic resources. Historic resources are historically significant buildings, landscapes, and places or objects that possess exceptional value or quality in representing and reflecting the architecture and cultural heritage of the University. This determination should reflect both public perception and professional judgments. The committee also recommends University historic resources for nomination to the National Register of Historic Places and/or the State Register of Cultural Properties.

Abstract
The UNM Regents' Historic Preservation Committee advises the administration regarding historic resources. The UNM Historic Furnishing and Decorative Arts Inventory attempts to catalog in one place the information related to the historic furniture on campus. The UNM Public Art Inventory documents public art located on the UNM Main and North Campuses and other UNM-owned properties.
