Scope and Content

This collection contains five signed linocut prints by Galo Galecio. The prints originally appeared in a folio titled "Bajo la Linea del Ecuador," which was printed by the Taller de Gráfica Popular and issued by La Estampa Mexicana in 1946. The complete folio contained 30 prints centered around village life in Ecuador (Prignitz #'s 574-603). The five prints included in this collection depict scenes of village work, such as fishing, building and tending charcoal ovens, and transporting water. Also included are scenes of family and death. Prignitz #'s of prints in this collection are 588, 590, 594, 595, and 603. Prints are 20.5 x 29.5 cm.
