Scope and Content

The Frank Graziano New Mexico Churches Pictorial Collection includes digital images of historical churches in New Mexico among them the Santuario de Chimayó, San José de Gracia in Las Trampas, San Francisco de Asís in Ranchos de Taos, the village churches of Mora County, St. Joseph Apache Mission in Mescalero, and the mission churches at Laguna, Acoma, and Picurís Pueblos. Many of the images are included in his book “Historic Churches of New Mexico Today”, published by the Oxford Press.

A 2019 addition includes image files related to Graziano's Cultures of Devotion project.

Biography

Frank Graziano is a writer and scholar who’s work covers a wide range of topics on Latin America and religious culture in Spanish America. Graziano is the recipient of many prestigious awards in support of his research and writing. He has received grants and fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts, the National Endowment for the Humanities, the American Council of Learned Societies, the John Carter Brown Library, the Fulbright and Fulbright-Hays Programs, and the Rockefeller Foundation Bellagio Center, among many others. He lives in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains of northern New Mexico.
