Scope and Content
The collection consists of five prints taken by Stephen Vaughn depicting the Penitentiary of New Mexico. It also contains three (3) diagrams of the penitentiary from the 1980 Attorney General’s Report on the prison riot (cited below in Related Material).

Biography
Stephen Vaughn is a physician and former medical director of the New Mexico Corrections Department. He received his PhD in cell biology in 1991 from the University of California, Irvine. He then received his MD from Boston University in 1995. He has taken a special interest in photographing the Penitentiary of New Mexico.
