Scope and Content
The collection documents the activism and unrest of the 1960s-early 1970s in New Mexico, which largely reflects the national climate at the time. Boxes 1-4 contain 8" x 10" photos; box 5 contains 13" x 19" enlargements of 17 photographs from other boxes. Photographs depict:
- Student protests on the campus of the University of New Mexico
- Black Student Union
- Chicano Movement, United Farmworkers, and Lettuce Boycott
- Native American Protest (Kiva Club)
- Viet Nam War Protest
- Governor Calls the National Guard to the University of New Mexico

Many of the images were intended to be used by Louderbough in a photographic book project, “New Mexicans in the Eye of the Storm: The 1968 to 1973 Portrait Project.” The book proposal is included in the collection.

Biographical Information
UNM alumn, Anthony Louderbough worked as a freelance photographer between 1968 and 1973. He photographed numerous newsworthy events and protests in New Mexico during that period, primarily in Albuquerque, but also in Santa Fe, New Mexico and Las Vegas, New Mexico. While Louderbough was a UNM student, he sold his photographs principally to the New Mexico Daily Lobo and Seer’s Catalogue.
