Biography

Carey Holbrook, also known as Sanford Carey Holbrook, was born in Missouri in 1885. Since 1921, however, he was a resident of New Mexico (first of Bernalillo and, later, of Albuquerque). He was a writer of verse and his poems were published in numerous magazines, including Life, College Humor, and New Mexico. For five years, he wrote a poetry column entitled "With the Cut-Out Open" for the Albuquerque Tribune. This column appeared in various other newspapers as well.
