History
Special Libraries Association (SLA) is an international, professional, non-profit association representing nearly 5,000 information resource experts. The organization's goal is to collect, analyze, evaluate, package, and disseminate information to facilitate accurate decision making in library and information management issues. SLA's members are employed by corporations, private companies, government agencies, technical and academic institutions, museums, medical facilities and information management consulting firms. The Rio Grande Chapter (RGC) of SLA attained full chapter status in 1956. In addition to keeping the membership informed about the parent organization and its opportunities, the RGC provides opportunities locally through a quarterly bulletin, workshops, and monthly meetings.
