Scope and Content

The collection consists of “real photograph” and color postcards and photographic viewbooks from Europe, the UK, Alaska, Mexico, Central America, and the United States. Several promotional postcards from railroads and motels are included.

Biography

Ruth Horel Caskey (1895-1980) was born in Arcata, California. She received a BA degree from University of California at Berkeley in 1917 and a Masters in Dental Pathology in 1918. She had a long career as a social worker in the Los Angeles and Tucson areas. Caskey traveled outside of the U.S. widely in the 1920s and 1930s, and around the country in subsequent years.
