Scope and Content
Details of 298 pre-marital investigations (handwritten) recorded by Father Antonio Vittoria between 1772 and 1777 describe the particular situation of each marriage: the name of the bride and groom, families, date, procedure, oaths, witnesses, etc. The title page reads, "Libro en que se asientan, las informaciones matrimoniales de los indios de esta parroquia de Chimalhuacan Chalco, y sus dos auxiliares Tepetl-Ixpan y Atlahutlan. Comenzo el dia 6 de agosto de 1772. Consta de docientas noventa y ocho fojas, y otras dos, que sirben de foros a la badana, y assi esta comienza en el folio segundo, siendo cura el R.P. Fr. Antonio Vittoria, Comisario del Santo Oficio quien la autorizo y firmo en dicho mes y año."
