Biography / History
Arena Editions published their first books with Adam Fuss and Robert Stivers in 1997. "Beautifully made and well-conceived books on photography" was the press' niche. Bruce Weber, Lynn Davis. Peter Beard, Robert Mapplethorpe, William Claxton, Sheila Metzner, Walker Evans, Sarah Moon, Richard Misrach, Greg Gorman, Jan Saudek, Peter Lindbergh, Carlo Mollino, Garry Winogrand, Laura Wilson, Richard Avedon, Berenice Abbott, Eugene Atget are among those included in Arena Editions' catalogue. Arena's imprint, Tondo, subscribed to the same high quality standards as Arena, but focused on photographic imagery from popular culture, music, film, and video. Elsa Kendall was Co-Founder and Creative Director of Arena Editions from 1997-2003.
