Scope and Content
The collection consists of the general correspondence files, edited manuscripts, rejected submissions, broadsheets, and publications of the Desert Review Press. Included are published issues and correspondence pertaining to Desert Review, AHORA, Penny Poetry Sheet, and A Poetry News Letter. Desert Review Press featured the works of Lucille Adler, Carol Bergé, Larry Eigner, Peter LaRouche, Peter Blackburn, Allen Ginsberg, Charles Guenther, and Judson Crews, thus the collection contains correspondence and materials related to these individuals. The collection also includes a poster of Allen Ginsberg.

Biography / History
Ward Abbott (1945-2008) founded and edited the Desert Review as a student at Albuquerque's Academy for Boys. The first edition of Desert Review, was distributed in spring, 1962. Desert Review had three main objectives: to introduce poets and writers of fiction from the high school level; to publish new writers of all ages, and to publish writers living in New Mexico. Desert Review was not published regularly and ceased publication by 1975. Desert Review Press also published A Poetry News Letter, Penny Poetry Sheet, AHORA, poetry broadsheets, and other isolated publications of poetry and fiction. Desert Review Bookshop was located in Corrales, NM.
