Background Information

On September 24, 2003, the Native American Program Series began as a joint program of the UNM Indigenous Nations Library Program (INLP) and the Center for Southwest Research. Headed by Mary Alice Tsosie and Lloyd Lee, the series set out to create and video record programs that address various Native American contemporary issues. The programs were designed in conjunction with Native American collections housed at the Center for Southwest Research which include American Indian Oral History collection, Sacred Lands Project Collection: 1894-1988, Navajo-Hopi Land Dispute documents: 1854-1984, and Robert F. Robideau American Indian Movement Papers: 1975-1994. Some of the programs recorded in the series are storytelling sessions, student colloquiums, class presentations and lectures.
