Scope and Content

This collection consists of oral history interviews with five New Mexico women quilters. The interviews discuss family history and life experiences as well as quilting history. The interviews are currently in analog format on twenty compact audiocassette tapes; researchers should contact CSWR staff regarding access to these interviews. A photograph of each interviewee is included in the collection. No transcripts are available for the interviews.

Biographical Information

Pamela James earned a Master of Arts degree in Women’s Social History from California State University, Long Beach, in 1984, and a doctorate in United States History from the University of New Mexico in 2001. As part of the research for her Master’s degree, James conducted oral history interviews with five New Mexico women quilters. The interviews were conducted in Albuquerque, New Mexico from 1981-1983.
