El Movimiento Estudiantil Chicano de Aztlan (M.E.Ch.A.) is national student organization.The UNM group is an active organization on campus.The national organization started in 1969 to help open doors for higher education for Chicano/Mexican American students. The organization has helped contribute to Chicano Studies programs throughout the US.
