Biography / History

Pauline Eisenstadt is the first woman to have served in both houses of the New Mexico legislature. She was elected to the New Mexico House of Representatives in 1984, where she served for 8 years. When she began her tenure in the House, she was the only Anglo woman Democrat. Eisenstadt served as New Mexico State Senator from 1997-2000. Her memoir, A Woman in Both Houses was published by the University of New Mexico Press in 2012.
