Scope and Content

This collection contains 22 prints produced between 1850-1880 relating short stories or poetic compositions with illustrations. Prints are done in a comic book-style, featuring a series of illustrated blocks with corresponding text below. Stories are typical of 19th century life in Latin America and Spain, and include tales of witches, peasants, bull fighters, and bourgeoisie. Two of the prints are games for children with instructions. This collection was published by the Libreria de Maucci Hermanos in Mexico. All text is in Spanish. Prints are 44 x 32 cm. each.
