This collection is comprised of Lowitt's notes and photocopies of research materials that he gathered between 1982 and 1988 while conducting research for his book, Bronson M. Cutting: Progressive Politician. Also included in the collection is the manuscript version of this publication. Lowitt's research utilized a significant amount of primary source materials, predominantly in the form of manuscript collections. His basic source was the Bronson M. Series II contains research files, organized alphabetically, by subject. This section contains photocopies of materials from manuscript collections, predominantly not the Bronson M. Cutting Papers, as well as a variety of photocopied publications, portions of publications, theses, and dissertations, with Lowitt's notes and annotations. Series II also contains an assortment of biographical information written about Bronson Cutting. Series I and II include materials on notable people including Mary Hunter Austin, Albert B. Fall, Dennis Chavez, and Miguel A. Otero. Series III contains the edited and annotated manuscript chapters for Bronson M. Cutting: Progressive Politician by Richard Lowitt.
